To gain access to the powers of a Patron Martyr, a character must overcome a special trial presented early in the game. This trial is likely undertaken by the entire party as a shared challenge. A character’s Patron Martyr is determined by their birth month.

Each adept of a Patron Martyr receives a unique cantrip, spell, or focus spell, which can be used at will or once per day, depending on the power. Additionally, every Patron Martyr has a designated month during which their adepts receive circumstance (unless stated otherwise) bonuses.

As the story progresses, characters will face additional trials to increase their Patronage Tier, unlocking new abilities, enhancements, and greater influence over myrrh-fueled magic.

Most of a Patron Martyr’s active powers require myrrh — a specially prepared and consecrated oil that can be crafted or purchased at religious institutions.
