If you choose to play one of these races, note that you begin without knowledge of the Hadaganian language (Aro dialect) which is a Common Empire language. You must learn it — either by having an Intelligence score above 0 (which also fits well aesthetically) or by taking the appropriate skill feat.
Even rarer choices include minotaurs, lizardfolk, ogres and kobolds. These races are viewed with deep suspicion and caution — and not without reason. Although they are intelligent races, capable of scholarship, writing, and speech, they are primarily known as xenophobic (in the case of lizardfolk), treacherous (in case of kobolds) and as thick-headed cannibals (in the case of minotaurs).
