"The Lawless Lands change with every dawn; so too does the Faith of the people."

The Holy Orders

The Holy Orders of the Covenant is the dominant religious force within the Covenant Grounds. To outsiders, they appear united: priests, paladins, and inquisitors who guard the faithful and uphold the pact that shields civilization from the chaos beyond. But within, the Order is divided by a festering feud.

Two factions claim to speak the true will of The Pantheon:

The Lantern of the Still Flame

This sub-faction speaks of Order and Law. Only through law, due process, and fair justice, can the Covenant Grounds stand against the ever shifting lands outside.

Leader: Father Grimm

Children of Storm

This faction believes in progress through Chaos. Why fight the inevitable? Embrace the chaos within every soul. Play. Take from the rich, give to the poor, go out and explore.

Leader: Mother Raine

Origins

The Holy Order was forged in blood. Once, the Lanterns and the Children warred openly, each claiming divine right over Concordia. Then the Gods decreed a truce: law and chaos bound together under one banner. Now they are outwardly united, and the factions tolerate each other because their shared faith demands it.

Beliefs & Goals

  • The Covenant Grounds are sacred, protected only by divine will.

  • The Lawless Lands are a threat to be resisted (Lanterns) or a truth to be embraced (Children).

  • The Holy Order exists to guide Concordia's people, root out heresy, and ensure that the Covenant endures.

Allies & Rivals

Outwardly, The Holy Orders are an independent Faction who do not favor one over the other. Yet you'll find that many of the Covenant Guard members attend sermons, and the Holy Order might ask the Compass Society for favors and resources out in the Lawless Lands.

Simultaneously, they outwardly despise the Circle of Root and Bone, all heretics and necromancers according to the Lanterns. Catfish Court is a close second, whose irreverence and crime make them frequent targets and convenient scapegoats.
