“The law bends for no one. Neither do the Covenant Guard."

Covenant Guard

The Covenant Guard are the watchmen of the Covenant Guards. More than soldiers, they are inquisitors, magistrates, wardens and lawmakers. They are the force that upholds the law and keeps chaos at bay. To the common folk, they are protectors. To thieves and rebels, they are the ever-present eye of judgment.

Origins

The Guard was founded in the earliest days of the Grounds, when law and faith first took root. Initially, the Guard was little more than a militia of farmers and priests. Today, the Guard is as much a civic institution as a military one, its members not only trained in war, but in spellcraft, investigation, and the labyrinth of Concordian law.

Beliefs & Goals

  • The Covenant is home, and its citizens must be protected at any cost.

  • Chaos beyond the Grounds is a threat that must never be allowed to seep in.

  • The Guard exists to defend, investigate and to judge

  • The law is more than protection. It is survival.

Allies & Rivals

First and foremost, The Covenant Guard is closely allied to the Holy Orders. Especially the Lanterns, because friction between them and the Children of the Storm does exist. They also generally like and respect the Compass Society, since they rely on their information and news from the outside world.

They are often at odds with the Iron Band and the Catfish Court, however. Seeing the mercenaries as a greedy way of "protecting" its citizens and doing dirty jobs. And of course, the Catfish' shady dealings undermine the Guard's authority.
