The Scarred Lands

Travel in the Scarred Lands is still perilous. In addition to dealing with weather, bandits, and mundane wildlife, travelers face added risks in many areas. Some hazards are well-known or at least strongly suspected: places like the Sleepless Forest, Tatterbark Grove, Merkor, or the Widow's Teeth.

The difficult truth is that the unknown hazards are even greater. Too many minor Horrors remain, and many are wise or hungry enough to keep moving. What seems a safe stretch of road or quiet farmstead one week can become a feeding ground or toxic mire the next.

Beyond the Horrors themselves, creatures and plants they corrupt can fester and spread long after the instigator has moved on, complicating cleansing efforts and straining limited resources.
