Southwatch Keep

“They might make it through. That doesn’t mean they make it back.” ~ veteran lookout

Southwatch Keep stands where the southern coastal road tightens, overlooking the nearby strait that forms the only sea passage allowing western ships to reach the eastern waters of Signal Bay and beyond. From its watchtower, sentries can see both the road below and the narrow waters, making it an ideal point for early warning.

The keep is not a great fortress. Its walls are solid but modest, built to delay and observe rather than withstand a siege. Southwatch’s strength lies in vigilance and communication. Signal fires and mirrors link it to Highcliff Garrison, ensuring that any pirate vessel attempting the passage is seen and reported.

Officially, Southwatch exists to deny pirates surprise. Still, some travelers note how easily the road could be halted here if needed. Southwatch has never closed the route outright, but its presence makes clear that movement through this corridor is always observed.
