Introduction
“If things ever get too rough for you, call on me. I'll do what I can to soothe, I promise <3.” - Elvaren, The Amorous Amignificarem
Known as "The Mother in the Waves", she is the goddess of all water, marine life, charity, love, emotions, all traveling water vessels, beauty, theatre & the arts. Also responsible for overseeing the Glaswyn Moon (Blue moon). If folk ever needs a helping hand. Enjoying life & all its pleasures is her goal for all folk on Amor.
Physical Description
Unlike the other gods, Elvaren will generally keep her appearance fairly consistent; voluptuous, curvy & stout, with generally round facial features. Unless needed to, her visage will generally stay human-like. adorned her head is a large headpiece similar to that of the head of a jellyfish, adorned with large, gold-banded rose-colored tendrils (Whether or not these are dreads from her scalp or jellyfish tentacles has been up for debate for centuries). Wearing a toga that always fits her frame, bright yellow eyes, & her entire body made up of water, you'll know its her the moment your heart begins to flutter. There are times wherein she may transform into an aquatic creature, but these are few & far-between.
Personality
Gentle, kind & nurturing, she is -the- caretaker for all folk who need healing, as she loves them all both individually & collectively. She wishes no harm or ill-will to those who don't follow her, but her emotions can very easily be overtaken; it takes little to set her off, but she's never angry, only vulnerable when she is. Storms, hurricanes & turbulent weather is believed to be her mourning over someone or something. Because of how attached she can be, this could be for any number of reasons.
That's not to say she's a push-over; when folk need protection against things they cannot comprehend, she's always the first to defend against it. In fact, the reasons most cephalopods & jellyfish are considered sacred is because of her nurturing.
Powers
"Storms, seas & the feelings in between" is the typical answer you'd get from a cleric devoted to her worship; She can control almost all bodies of water, create & dissipate storms, summon marine life, manipulate the emotions of others, change one's appearance to attract or repel others, give musings & ideas to creative folk.
She also has the ability to "make" people fall in love, however this is a misnomer; its not so much people falling in love haphazardly, rather she is able to create just the right circumstances for those who would be compatible to meet. She understands & respects that certain people to not want to be together (that doesn't mean she won't try).
Possessions
The Toppah-Veil
While her headpiece is noticeable to anyone, the secret to her keeping her temper under control is from a secret gold cloth underneath it. Created from fish skin of a long-extinct species of golden fantail, anyone who wears it immediately have control over their emotions & cannot be frightened or charmed when attuned.
The Golden Pearl Earrings
Given from the first mollusk, these earrings are able to both call upon & scry thru whatever marine life they wish after attuning. One earring calls them, the other scrys, with each ability holding 5 charges per long rest.
Tears of Elvaren
Held in a teardrop vile, Elvaren's tears hold rejuvenating waters said to heal almost any illness found one Amor, and restores their strength & vigor to their youth, with some reports even reverse-aging when ingested. These viles are considered to be legendary, as only four of them have ever been collected properly; only one drop in a storm can turn into a tear, & its incredibly fragile. This elixir can remove all levels of exhaustion, heal someone back to full health, remove curses & conditions, and on a nat. 20, removes fives years.
Realm
While her realm is usually the ocean, any temple in her honor & any body of water is her domain. It is also rumored that she may have a large, underwater castle in the Howeldrevel Channel. Only issue is its location is so deep, no mortal would survive trying to find it, and as much as she loves the folk, she prefers to keep it that way, as a sacred space for herself.
Relations within the pantheon
Daolyn - As her uncle, the two of them have a more familial bond, and the two of them enjoy their time they spend as family. She does tend to vent to him a lot however, and she does, nor'easters & hurricanes emerge, as the amount of rain that gathers would flood the world. Ergo, he is able to move each droplet of water to dilute the tempest, but it can be hard to alleviate all of her feelings.
Molimai/Klazoa - Elvaren's first love, Molimai gave her her first visceral experience with fertility, and bore what we now know are mermaids, selkies & even kappa. Every first lunar cycle, he is chosen to elope with her & provide for the coming year. During this time, animals begin to multiply, fires are least likely to overtake any particular location & more fae lines appear haphazardly in forests & near streams during the Gasloor moon (Green Moon)
Animage/Hepheshtu - Elvaren's second love, he taught her discernment & how to use water for protection & defense. She was also the reason horse-shoes were invented, as her way to show how much she loved him. Every second lunar cycle, he is chosen to wed & consummate with her. During this time, (and most commonly under the Glaswyn Moon [blue moon]), the tempurature on Amor never reaches higher than 70 degrees (25 celcius) in all regions, diplomatic meetings & olympian games are held & arctic marine life such as walruses, seals & narwhals are more commonly seen futher south than normal.
Roe’wyn - Elvaren's last love, and the only one who cannot consummate at all, Roe'wyn still enjoys her company by his pedantic expository on all things magic, numbers & in the natural world. During this lunar cycle, essence is heightened all over Amor & those who have had trouble learning magic are able to learn another spell or two. Forests, shrubery & the general flora become more hardy & bloom in-season for longer than normal. Crops double & ripen under the Arghans Moon (Silver moon).
Nizoa - Even though she is a monster in every sense of the word, Elvaren treats Her as an equal, and holds no ill will towards Her & the creations She continues to make. Even the monsters Nizoa has made who lurk in her oceans are fascinating to Her.
Syprian - As Elvaren's first love, he was the reason her waters help plant life grow & quenches thirst for all. When he sacrificed himself to help protect the sentient, some say it had rained for so long & so hard, almost all the floating isles fell into the seas & flooded Amor. She still grieves for him at times, but takes solace in her consorts.
Worship
"Does the water from the river differ from the sea? Neigh, as She does not judge. You in turn must provide the same in kind." - Elvaren Proverb
Followers who are reserved with Her faith will volunteer their time, money or goods to their local temple, but are highly encouraged to perform these actions on their own or anonymously. It is believed that the more humble the act, the more likely Elvaren will bless you in kind.
Holidays
Elegance Day
On the first of the month of the chosen consort, A celebratory parade happens in most cities wherein a large statue of Elvaren is adorned in silks, robes & other personal items to be blessed by Her. The statue's procession is filled with floats sponsored by local guilds & shops, leading to the largest local temple, where the statue is placed publicly & people may receive their blessed items in exchange for tangible gratitude. The statue stays at this location for the rest of the year until the next elegance day.
Practice of Faith
Followers who dedicate their lives to Elvaren must first make an oath swearing to help all those in need in society, and to donate their time & effort to their closest temples, wherein they work with their clergy, and in exchange are given room, board & one meal per day. Followers are also expected to either clean, perform mundane volunteer work thru out their dwelling, or use their skills in servitude for others. Each day, followers are essentially kicked out for the day & are to help the settlements' peoples. In working with the local governments, they are to only help with mundane work such as cooking, cleaning, mending items & tending to children. Anyone found violating these oaths is shunned from their communities, exiled & depending on the severity, handed over to the local authorities.
Quests
Service & Support
Once per long rest, if something of value is given to another less fortunate, Elvaren will bestow a minor blessing in an area that isn't specialized. Anyone who is a devotee of Elvaren is able to choose where the blessing goes.
Sailing & Support
In an effort to win over Elvaren's favor, up to five people are granted complimentary passage on any fishing or transport vessel at no charge, provided they don't interfere with the work performed by mariners onboard & keep to themselves. All sailing vessels have rations on standby in the event this happens. Those who perform this are in turn more likely to be given safe passage or complete their daily work faster than normal.
Temples
Almost every major settlement either on or near a body of water has a temple dedicated to her worship. Usually made of either plaster, marble or white howlite. Open-air lobbies with large braziers are kept lit to welcome anyone needing help. Inside is a large chamber, lit by a skylight, with a large statue of Elvaren in its center. Whichever direction the closest body of water, her symbol is shown as a large mosaic made from blessed sea glass. in the opposite direction is the entrance to Her hall, with several smaller statues of the rest of the pantheon, though their placements will often differ depending on location. No matter which temple one enters, Elvaren is always the largest & in the center, with the smaller statue of the god for that year in front of Her. The rest of the grounds are similar to a cloister, in that hostels, kitchens & meeting areas are all connected. Higher-ranking devotees live & work on their holy grounds while newly-introduced acolytes roam around looking for work.
Relics
The Sacred Amiclydes seed - Said to be a parting gift from Syprian before his death, in the event that the five stones somehow ever go missing, the seed must be planted somewhere anew in their place immediately. Currently this seed is housed & protected under lock & key in a secret location.*
The Ohu Shell - A large, blue & yellow shell similar to that of a nautilus. When blown, it makes no noise, but all marine life within a 5 mile radius is summoned to the location it was blown.
Wreath of Waves - A circlet made from coral & pearls in shimmering pastel colors which, when worn, is said to control waves, river flow & even rain.
