Barrowdowns
/

The northern hills, inland from the coasts of and north of the Oldwood's upper reaches. Rolling country dotted with the burial mounds of peoples who lived here before the kingdom, before the empire - thousands of barrows holding ancient dead who do not rest.

Wights walk the hills. Shades drift through the fog. The Velgrym, ancient dead lords, sit waiting in their tomb-chambers. Small walled towns survive in the safer valleys, their people knowing which paths to walk and which offerings to leave.

Followers of the Old Ways come here as pilgrims and seekers, honoring the ancient dead and searching for relics of the pre-kingdom peoples, despite the universal intolerance for grave-looting.
