The old capital of Veldmere, built on Crownhill above Kingsmere's eastern shore, in the former Duchy of Crownhold. The city spreads down the slopes and around the base of the hill, once sixty thousand souls, now perhaps ten thousand living within walls. The High Faith administers Sorvel in the absence of a crown, and their cathedral, consecrated on the site of the old syncretic temple, is the most intact grand structure in the city.

The merchant quarter still functions; trade with Fenvic keeps supplies flowing. The lower city is largely abandoned, a maze of empty buildings and blocked streets that the watch does not patrol. The upper city near the cathedral retains something like civic life. Most who live in Sorvel cluster there, avoiding the darkness below and the danger above. The castle itself is abandoned, and has become the sight of many hauntings.

The Hollow King's agents have rumored to be operating in Sorvel. No one has moved against them, and it is unclear who holds the power or bravery to do so.
