Law

One of the three primordial principles, alongside Chaos and Neutrality. Law is order, structure, civilization, permanence: the force that builds, maintains, and preserves.

Law is order in its place, hierarchies and institutions, the taming of wilderness, the permanence that endures. At its best: justice, protection, meaning. At its worst: tyranny, stagnation, the crushing of all that is wild and free.

Before The Fall, the royal bloodline held a covenant with Law, or with the Balance that the cosmos depended upon. When the last monarch tried to destroy usurp Law over Chaos permanently, achieving apotheosis, they broke this covenant. Law cannot exist without Chaos to define itself against.

Though many institutions of Law have crumbled or perished in its wake, Law persists in the High Faith, the surviving Veldic Dukes, the Order of the Broken Blade, and in the simple oaths that common folk still keep.

Divine power flows from Law and remains stable where arcane magic has become unpredictable. But a cleric who strays from the path may find their power weakening. The Light Above does not negotiate.
