The Starfall Galaxy setting fuses the heart of grimdark science fantasy with survival-driven mechanics. Inspired by Grimdark Future, Starfinder 2e, and Magic: The Gathering’s Color Pie.
This galaxy is not a land of utopias, but of colossal struggles, neon decay, and fleeting hope. Every resource and risk revolves around survival—time itself is the coin of existence. Navigating the galaxy means weighing every faction’s devotion and every journey’s hazards, as interstellar travel runs through the perilous Rift, and the persistent possibility of cosmic disaster shapes the fate of worlds.
Starfall Galaxy
The Starfall Galaxy is a disc shaped galaxy divided into three Macroregions defined by thier distance from the Galactic Center; The Inner Sphere, The Outer Sphere and the Frontier
The Inner Sphere is the Central core of the galaxy; it is the longest inhabited and most densely populated macroregion. The region is very loosely guided by the Commission for Stellar Prosperity. At this point most governments have been eclipsed by corporations and other private interests that are pressured into productive cooperation by the Commission on the Void Exchange
The current iteration of sentient life has recorded about 845 Thousand Annums of History. The current date system records the as the Year 45.0.0, 45,000.
Primary Features
The Rift
Nothing Truly travels faster than light in this universe. The Beings here are only able to travel to other star systems within a lifetime by taking a shortcut through a Psycoactive conceptual dimension called the Rift.
Yom Economy
The Vastness of space makes managing interstellar governments and economies, nearly impossible. Spacers do not trust unfamiliar currency. the common framework of trade is the exchange of goods and services defined in a common unit of Value, the Yom; the total value of resources need to sustain the life of a Medium Humanoid in space for one day.
Devotion
Magic manifests in the Starfall galaxy when energies from the rift affect the material universe. The substance of the Rift is called Mana. Mana Resonates with certain, beliefs, motivations, and intentions that grant types of mana a quality called Devotion.
