Exchange Vector Net

Environmental Hazard

The Exchange Vector Net (EVN) is the Void Exchange’s integrated teleportation defense grid, controlled exclusively by the Administrator and her Vuswis support cadre. It is not a conventional weapon system; instead, it uses Rift-tuned teleportation to relocate threats rather than destroy them outright.

Mechanically, The EVN as a legendary-scale location hazard and narrative tool with three main modes:

  • Ship-Scale Displacement: Hostile vessels attacking the Void Exchange can be forcibly teleported to the system’s edge or into lethal environments (e.g., a star’s corona) if they trigger high-level defense protocols.

  • Onboard Enforcement: Individuals or small groups that violate key security taboos (threatening the Crossroads, council chambers, or Vuswis) can be instantly relocated to secure detention cells, isolation decks, or external holding bays.

  • Containment & Quarantine: The EVN can section off decks, reroute corridors, or “scramble” local teleporter paths to seal breaches and prevent threats from reaching critical areas.

It exists to protect: The Crossroads Riftgate nexus. The Core Council / Commission chambers required for the Exchange’s political function. The Vuswis, whose continued safety and work are essential to the worldship’s operation.

Player characters do not wield the EVN as equipment; they interact with it as a pervasive environmental force, a tool the Administrator may use for or against them, and a high-stakes system they can sometimes negotiate with, exploit, or attempt to temporarily disrupt.
