Environmental Feature

What they are: Enclosed chambers or flat platforms moving up and down a vertical shaft by tech or magic, controlled with simple commands (buttons, touch panels, voice).

Calling one: A creature Interacts with a call panel; depending on traffic and shaft length, the elevator might arrive immediately or after up to a minute or two.

Riding: Once aboard, selecting a floor is another Interact; the elevator then moves between levels—usually outside initiative unless timed tension matters.

  • Entering shafts: Forcing open shaft doors without a car present or opening a ceiling hatch usually takes 2+ Interact actions, often requiring Force Open (Athletics) or Disable a Device / Pick a Lock (Thievery) to defeat locks and safeties.

    • Shafts include ladders for manual ascent/descent; creatures inside risk falling and being crushed if the car moves while they’re in the way.
