Environment Feature

an airlock is a short compartment with at least two interlocked doors, sealing a climate‑controlled environment (ship, station, dome, underground complex) from vacuum or a hostile atmosphere.

  • A structural barrier: treat its doors as heavy, reinforced doors (often using the same Hardness/HP as starship interior doors) and its walls as starship‑interior or better.

  • An environmental choke point: if the outer door opens to vacuum, anyone inside is suddenly subject to vacuum and decompression effects.

  • Venting Airlock hazard —an airlock that opens unexpectedly, triggering suffocation and a Reflex save—perfect to reskin as malfunction, sabotage, or Rift‑induced glitch.


Mechanically, entering or exiting is usually just Interact to open door, move, Interact to close. Problems start when doors are jammed, locked, or hacked, when power is unreliable, or when someone on the other side has override control.
