Verdanwyth’s faith matters, for honouring her is the only way to make it through the forests unscathed.
Verdanwyth is worshipped in various ways, each individual group with their own leader and practices. A common way to determine the hierarchy is by testing one’s proficiency in survival related skill tests.
Clerics are chosen by their peers, and are usually those who pay good respect to Verdanwyth and her Edicts. Some possess magic of the primal variety, while others excel in survival skills, and others just have a knack for growing difficult plants.
The faith doesn’t have any particular goals currently, aside from what it is already doing: making sure the forest is respected by those who traverse it.
Stay in harmony with nature, respect and nurture the natural world, and foster a connection with and understanding of its innate balance.
Preserve the ancient runes, respect their power and wisdom and make sure they are not used for nefarious means.
Exploiting, destroying or otherwise bringing dishonour upon the balance of nature is strictly forbidden. Don’t overexploit resources, cause unnecessary harm to the ecosystem or interrupt the balance of plants and fungi.
Verdanwyth was once a legendary hero, helping others survive in the then magic-ridden forests by finding the balance between people kind and nature. When she passed, a big Aspen tree was planted on her grave to cement her connection to nature. This tree grew big and strong, and as her soul interwove with the magic and leylines in the forest, she ascended to godhood.
