The legendary lost mine sought by Gundren Rockseeker. Its lingering magic is volatile and can make familiar spells unpredictable.
Entrance: a tight squeeze (Bjorn had to shrink; Avalanche stayed outside). Gundren's brother Tharden was found dead in the first large cavern.
A pit with a strange goblin corpse (oblong head, sickly green veins) leads by rope to the lower levels.
A cavern of ancient dwarf and orc skeletons (burrowing beetles), a room of risen zombies, and an old office with a locked strongbox.
A massive cavern with a starry, glittering ceiling and two freestanding stone structures (a wraith and specters in one).
A fungus cavern home to friendly Myconids.
The Phandelver Forge (Forge of Spells), and a blast-furnace chamber north of it.
A meeting hall with six damaged marble pillars and a statue of a seated dwarf with emerald eyes.
A cove with crashing waves, reached by following the wind, water and tremors; not an exit.
Water-filled passages to the northeast and northwest (per Nezznar).
Session 12:
The party first entered the cave, then retreated to Phandalin after Bjorn's cursed axe took hold, and returned with Gundren.
Gwen, a scholar, believed strange mutations around Phandalin were connected to the cave.
Session 13:
Explored the office, the starry cavern and the Myconid fungus cavern; fought an umber hulk, ghosts, a wraith and specters.
Session 14:
Bugbears, a wraith and specter, imps and a revenant were fought before the party reached the Forge.
Session 15 (September 29, 2026):
The cave continued to crack and settle while the party long rested in the barricaded forge chamber.
Session 16 (October 6, 2026):
The cave was collapsing (cracks, falling debris) as the party escaped with Sildar Hallwinter and Gundren's brother.
Ghouls and a black pudding blocked the retreat near the exit.
The extent and consequences of the collapse are unresolved.
