Ravenfall
/

A city steeped in shadow and ruled by the iron grip of its vampire overlords. At the heart of this dark dominion stands Lord Adriel Acedia, the Vampire Prince, whose centuries-long reign has drained not only the blood of its people but their hope as well. His imposing castle looms over the city, a constant reminder of his unyielding control.

Ravenfall is built astride two colossal waterfalls, where the mighty Corvus and Valroka Rivers converge. These falls, with their thundering currents, have made the city a critical trade hub, attracting merchants, smugglers, and all manner of travellers. Its fortified walls and natural defences make it nearly impenetrable, ensuring the vampires maintain an unassailable grip on power.

Yet beneath its wealth and strategic significance lies a city suffocating under the weight of oppression, where the nights belong to the vampires and the humans who live here do so in fear of becoming part of the blood tithe. Life in Ravenfall is a constant balancing act—survival in the face of eternal darkness.

extract from 'The Lands of Noctis' by Cara Margond

Ravenfall is the capital of the principally of Heranod and seat of the The Acedia Bloodline bloodline of vampires. Its advantageous position at the confluence of the river Corvus and Valroka has led not only to its long term prosperity but the name of the city itself.

Inhabited by humans, dwarves and vampires (included a small number of other species), Ravenfall is one of the most densely populated cities in all of Noctis.

Economy

Ravenfall is a major trade hub, benefiting from tolls from the various traders that use the river wharves to transport goods down the waterways to Heranod to the rest of Noctis.

The sizeable dwarven population, drawn by the raw resources like iron and lead from mines in Thunderback Mountains, has developed into a thriving metal working industry. So much so that the dwarves themselves are exempt from the Blood Tithe, instead levying high quality weapons and armour as a form of taxation.

The city also boasts a lucrative trade in:

  • Bloodwine - A rich, deep red wine fortified with blood extracts, popular among vampires for its taste and potency.

  • Fleshweave Cloth – A rare, expensive cloth infused with protective wards and blood-based dyes, favored by vampire nobility for its luxurious yet sinister appearance.
