Dire Hyenas are hyper-aggressive, larger, and more ferocious versions of Hyenas. Hyenas are typically scavengers, but Dire Hyenas do the hunting themselves. Quick, stealthy, and resilient, just one of these creatures can take on even the most experienced of adventurers. With sharp claws and dagger-like teeth these beasts are armed to kill. Even when adventurers or travelers are lucky enough to escape, the leftover scratches and bites can leave humanoid creatures with a myriad of different grisly afflictions. These creatures can take 5-6 strikes of a standard blade before they are defeated. Yet they have learned one thing from their less aggressive brothers, sometimes fight cannot be won and it is better to run off with your tail between your legs.
