Vampires are nigh immortal creatures of darkness that prey upon the living. With proper sustenance, they can live for centuries, millenia even. Because of this, they are able to maintain anonymity, becoming anyone at any time in order to slip by unnoticed.

They possess several very powerful abilities that make them stand out from their far weaker spawns which are discussed later. Conventional weapons barely hurt them, being able to shrug off blows from most standard weapons. They are capable of hypnotizing people, bending them to it’s will. A vampire's bite is the most dangerous thing about it. In addition to being able to drain vitality from people in mere moments, vampires can also turn normal humans into vampire spawns.

Though powerful, they are not invincible. Sunlight still kills them in an instant and they are still repelled by divine magic. But it is silver that is the key to their downfall. Vampires have a fatal allergy to silver, and any exposure to it can prove fatal to them. Stakes through the heart? Complete fantasy. Your best bet is a silver blade and a cleric that’s quick on their feet.
