The Demonic Dominion, also known as the Plains of Sorrow, was a major foothold of the demonic incursion into Osterra. It was located on the continent of Nova Regnus, directly flanked by The Cast, The Grove, The Guild of the Black Sky, and The Order. As its center was the Citadel of Darkness, with a Great Obelisk within its walls.
Hordes of demons spilled into the Realm, who worked to sow chaos and bring the realm out of balance. Their minions included corrupted orcs and humans. Due to their demonic corruption, those beings were forced to serve the will of their demonic overlords, even if they would normally never commit acts of evil.
After the war was won by the Osterran Factions, the Plains of Sorrow was renamed to the Plains of Hope by Sir Garon of the Guild of the Black Sky.
The Plains of Sorrow Campaign
After years of war, the Demonic Dominion was finally breached at Vermintide (Nov 2023), through the Labyrinth of Evil. A fierce combat ensued before the Citadel of Darkness as the United Forces of Osterra marched forward. The demons sought to block the advance with an Impregnable Ward.

The air crackled with magical energy, and the clash of steel against demonic flesh resonated through the land. In the heat of battle, alliances formed and friendships were forged, transcending the boundaries of factions. Dame Gwion led her ground forces with unwavering determination, while the Guild of the Black Sky's artillery pounded the walls of the Citadel. Sir Garon's strategic brilliance guided the assault, and Sir Tanos, First Paladin of Osterra, stood as a beacon of hope on the front lines. The Labyrinth of Evil revealed its dark secrets to the adventurers, who amassed Runic Scrolls and unleashed their arcane powers to undo the work the corrupted had forged upon the Ley Line nodes in their efforts to build the demon's Impregnable Ward. As the wards crumbled, the united forces pressed forward, sweeping the demons from the field. The once-impregnable Citadel of Darkness fell to the relentless assault of the United Forces of Osterra. Slaves to darkness no more, the Crowfolk and the Harvest Guard were released from their bondage when the demons fell.

In the aftermath, the remaining demons fled, scattering to the shadows. The land, once shrouded in despair, now basked in the light of victory. The Knights of The Realm in attendance-- Sir Garon, Dame Gwion, Sir Tanos, The Merchant Prince Sir Trez Arrigo, Sir Randy, Imra, Master of Elixirs, Sir Artorias the Moonslayer, and Sir Xoticus the Kind-- all stood together, their names etched into the annals of Osterra's history as heroes who defied the darkness. Chairman Ironrock proclaimed that these lands shall no longer be known as the Plains of Sorrow, and would ever forward be known as, The Plains of Hope.
The realm continues to celebrate its hard-fought triumph, and the unity forged in battle has remained, a testament to the indomitable spirit of Osterra. To bring closure, Oonagh Cardot, High Priestess of The Green Goddess, gathered the tears of the demons, which had turned to magical crystals, and in a great ceremony with all of the spellcasters in attendance chanting incantations as one, sanctified the place. The demons defeated, the citadel crumbled, The Great Obelisk stood tall once more, casting a benevolent glow of Ley line energy, a warming healing light across the land, banishing the shadows of the demons to the recesses of memory.
This tale of great deeds and valor closes a chapter in our battles with the demons from The Ebon Gate. There is great rejoicing in the realm that the demons have at last been defeated and driven from our lands.
