Reaves

Reaves, the Stoic Harbinger, is the god of death and is worshiped as the patron god of the Dominion of Man. Reaves takes many forms, often similar to the race of the nearly departed which see him in visions, but is most often depicted with a serene and stoic demeanor, with his pale skin seems stretched too thin and his striking black eyes seem to never blink. His face, often expressionless and contemplative, reflects the stoic virtues of wisdom and emotional resilience. As the deity overseeing death, winter, and cycles, Reaves symbolizes not just the natural end of life but also the stoic acceptance of nature's rhythms and inevitability. He teaches that just as winter gives way to spring, so too must life yield to death, in a perpetual cycle of renewal and transformation.

Few people expect the harbinger's compassion or care for life. He values the quality of life, emphasizing virtue, self-control, and the pursuit of wisdom over the fear of death. He teaches that death is not to be feared, rather death is an adversary to be fought and an unavoidable part of the universe. His focus is on encouraging individuals to live virtuous lives, defined by personal excellence and inner tranquility, so that when death comes, it is met with dignity and acceptance.

Followers of Reaves adopt rigid principles in their daily lives, emphasizing rationality, self-discipline, and emotional fortitude. They are often seen as counselors or advisors, guiding others through life’s hardships with a calm and balanced perspective. Temples dedicated to Reaves are places of quiet reflection, where individuals learn to detach from external chaos and focus on their internal moral character.

Reaves’ influence manifests in the natural world's cyclical patterns and in the lives of those who seek wisdom and personal growth through strict discipline. He is especially revered during times of change and hardship, as his teachings provide a guiding light for navigating life's challenges with grace and equanimity. His presence is a reminder that in accepting the inevitability of death, one can truly embrace the fullness of life.

Reave's symbol is that of the metal circlet. The circlet is said to resemble the clock or course of one's lifetime--a reminder that it will one day end and that your mortal body will return to the earth.
