A weather-worn wooden structure rises from the west bank, its shape forming a broad cross against the pale sky. The timbers are sun-bleached and dry, the air around it heavy with salt and the faint tang of pitch.
A crimson shield bearing a grinning skull sigil hangs above the entryway, a symbol few in Saltmarsh care to see. Rough steps lead up to a shadowed porch, the boards creaking softly under the sea breeze.
The building stands apart from the town, isolated on the west bank.
Locals give it a wide berth; even gulls rarely perch on its roof.
At night, a faint crimson glow sometimes seeps from the cracks of the upper shutters.
The shield of Iuz above the door radiates a subtle unease, its presence a declaration that this ground is not Keoland’s.
