Quick Look

Magic

  • Elves are well-versed in the application and manipulation of Rune magic.

  • Unlike Humans, Elves often default to weaker (though longer-lasting and less complex) constructs.

  • Elven Mages are known to engrave Runes into their own armor and clothing.

Elves are a race of Mortals formed in the image of Gurang Zhi / Solane, during the start of the Second Era.

Risk-averse and single-minded: Elves have little sense of adventure. After all, what creature would ever take risks if it could potentially mean missing out on entire centuries of life?

Though Elves would not exist until the Second Era; many of the Spirits that would become Elves were, during the First Era, already attracting Gurang Zhi / Solane's attention.

Elves were formed exactly as the Second Era began. Initially warring with Humans over land and territory, most Elves eventually decided to concede and attend to their own matters.

Society

While most Elves are generally apathetic to civil concerns, a large schism nonetheless exists within their society:

  • Dwarven Elves: Elves mostly concerned with material study (forging, creating, accumulating, etc). These Delven typically live deep within mountains.

  • Eldric Elves: Elves mostly concerned with immaterial pursuits (philosophy, history, religion, etc). These Eladrins typically live on mountaintops.

Appearance

Notes

  • According to Elven mythos, Eldrins were borne of Elves who shed their ugliness, calluses, and all that was dark in them. These castoffs became the Delves.

  • Notably, it was an Eldrin philosopher who originally inspired the Somnic Church.

    • Regardless, modern Elven culture has no predominant religion.

      • The Gods are viewed simply as powerful beings, undeserving of worship or praise.

      • Elven loyalty lies entirely within each other: rather than within divine beings.

  • As Elves age and mature, they grow horns.
