Formed as a people's militia to confront the demonic threat, the Demon Hunters proved themselves as steadfast astral-warriors and soon became legends. To increase their effectiveness, they embarked on radical alchemical transformations to alter their very nature. Now, having banished the demons – and with both the League’s Church of Light and Empire’s Triune Church condemning their methods – the Hunters are in decline. Fewer recruits endure the brutal training at their shattered base on Kyrah's shard, the Crocodile Island, and fewer remain willing to continue their celestial slaying for a living.
Each company of Demon Hunters consider themselves a separate ‘people’ because they undergo very unique alchemical treatments of the body. Therefore, if it is the “Yexor” company, then they call themselves ‘Yexorites’ and nothing else.
