A rocky forest to the west of Heathford.
An old growth spurred on by several brooks running from the Gravehills and the Fellridge, this forest has a poor reputation for banditry. Caravans traveling the southern roads report watchers in the treeline, and ambushes along the approaches to Heathford have increased in recent years. Whether this is organized or merely opportunistic, no one has confirmed.
Somewhere in the deeper Vauxwood stands a structure known locally as the Roost — an old fortified keep, Immorean in its bones by most accounts, that has changed hands enough times that no one presently claims ownership of it in polite company. It appears on older maps. Travelers have glimpsed its tower above the canopy from the road. Nobody who is asked directly seems to know what, if anything, it holds now.
The watch in Heathford has discussed sending a scouting party more than once. They have not yet done so.
