Hunger and Thirst

Hunger

Your character will need to eat to survive. When you do not eat for a day, you gain 1 point of Hunger. You can have a maximum of 3 points of Hunger. When you reach 3 points of Hunger, you gain 1 point of Exhaustion. Every point of Hunger you would gain while at 3 Hunger points, you gain 1 point of Exhaustion.

Food is measured in how many days they can sustain a single person, known as Food Supplies. Consuming 1 unit of Food Supplies removes 1 point of hunger.

A bounty of berries from the forest may end up only being 1 unit of Food Supplies, but a full course dinner at a fine dining event may be 3 food supplies worth, or even more.

Thirst

Your character will need to stay hydrated on their journeys. However, if your character has a waterskin, a canteen, or some flasks filled with water, or another source of water, such as a stream, a village’s well, or a rain catcher during the rains, this system can mostly be ignored.

When there is no readily available water on the journey, such as a trek through a desert, your character will need to consider how much water they can carry, and how long it will last.

A day of high activity requires 2 litres of water to stay hydrated.

A day of low activity requires 1 litres of water to stay hydrated.

If you spend a day without hydrating the proper amount, you gain 1 point of Exhaustion at the start of the next day.
