The Khanate's version of the Winter War

The Khanate during the Winter War.

Just after the traitorous Ulfrick, abdicated the throne and retreated to an Island in the North. Another great calamity befell the Vidarian Khanate. Great walls of ice surrounded the farther borders of the Khanate. Reports came in from the Bay of Nuln, Ships were frozen in the harbor and no trade was able to come in or out. In the northern Shodoi district, many who accompanied the Vargr either froze to death or suffered burns of frostbite. As for the Steppes, most people were left mostly unharmed; mainly consisting of nomads who were already used to such harsh weather. That is not to say that they too did not feel the effects of the great winter; for much grain and livestock were diminished causing mass starvation among population centers, especially within the cities.

In the eyes of the citizens of the Khanate, most particularly in the opinions of nomads; many superstitions had begun circulating that outlanders from Nova Regnus were to blame for their sufferings. First with the death of their beloved and respected Khan bringing in a short, yet chaotic reign of the Dark Khan Ulfrick. Then with the Winter War which many nomads say as another world changing chaotic event brought on by the meddlings of the Osterran Council. This idea was later strengthened with reports of the Faction known as the Order, being deep in Vetus Mundi territories and even attacking members of Vargr bey’s retinue.

It wasn’t until the arrival of their resurrected Khan did the Winter winds finally subsided. Though both events were completely separate and unrelated in every way. Many saw the resurrection of Vidar Khan, as a sign that he was meant to rule eternal. Through divine purpose and the will of the strongest spirits did Vidar Khan appear and when he did, the world became warmer by his presence.
