Akane is a culturally rich and geographically diverse region in the central part of Shenyun, known for its deep spiritual significance and ancient traditions. Somewhat isolated due to rugged terrain, its mountain ranges form natural barriers that have allowed the region to develop apart from the rest of the nation. The people of Akane hold a profound reverence for their natural surroundings, viewing the forests, mountains, and rivers as sacred.
At the heart of the region lies the Akane Temple, a central religious site nestled deep within ancient forests, dedicated to a local kami. The River of Whispers winds through the region, its waters believed to carry the voices of spirits. Along the western edge, Asatsuyu no Hatake (Field of Morning Dew) is a mystical forest known for its ethereal beauty at dawn, where mist clings to the canopy and light filters through in golden threads.
Akane is a center for traditional magic and sorcery, with practitioners drawing on the natural magic that saturates the land. Local warriors are skilled in martial arts that incorporate magical techniques, blending discipline of body and spirit. The region's economy is sustained by rice, tea, and medicinal herbs, while its renowned artisans create magical artifacts and traditional weapons sought after across Shenyun.
Akane borders Hikari to the east, Akanegumo to the west beyond Mount Takumi and the border mountains, and Sazanami to the south. Cherry-blossomed Sakurajima lies in its west.
