The Bloodtide

Each cell follows a Dissonant who claims to hear and interpret the Blight’s music. The Shadowgrove encounters also establish Scribes, Devoted guards, and junior acolytes. These roles do not identify a single leader of the whole cult.

Dissonants — Lead cells and claim to interpret the Blight’s will.
Scribes — Ritual authorities recognized by the Gaunt House cell.
Devoted — Committed followers used as guards and enforcers.
Acolytes — Junior followers serving a cell’s work.

Rituals and sacrifices — Use pain and terror to strengthen the Blight’s influence.
Watchers — Observe sites and events connected with impending rituals.
Violence — Stage crimes and leave marks designed to frighten and disorient survivors.

Establish sites where the Blight’s influence can take hold.
Recruit followers and continue the work of surviving cells.

The cult interprets endurance of suffering as a sign of worth. Its cells demand escalating commitment, making relief from fear or pain conditional on deeper involvement. Some followers can be rescued from that hold; devotion is not equally secure in every member.

The Blighted Baptism scars an initiate with the cult’s sigils.
A cell’s leaders direct participation in its rites and service.

The promise of survival and power in the world the cult expects the Blight to remake.
Access to its ritual teaching and the support of a cell.

Serve the cell’s rites and spread terror or confusion.
Protect ritual sites and obey those granted authority within the cell.

Choral Rite — Forces victims’ cries into patterns said to harmonize with the Blight.
Blighted Baptism — Marks initiates with sigils that seem to shift under sustained observation.

Recent Activity

At Stormhaven Wharf, the Gutter Saints confronted the Maw-That-Drowns after a failed Bloodtide summoning aboard the Serene Gull. They evacuated the docks and brought about a controlled collapse of the ritual.

At Gaunt House, the Saints entered under the guise of Scribes and were escorted by Brother Harsk. They stopped Torad Yarog’s ritual. Myra and Davan survived and are receiving care; that local defeat does not establish the end of all Bloodtide cells.
