A Short History
The Blighted Sunscape, formerly known as the Aridus Desert, was once a thriving region. However, once 820PGC-824PGC: The Boiling Plague broke out, its population numbers dwindled, leaving the area nearly extinct. Most settlements were wiped out by the Plague, burst to ruins by the explosions of the Plague's victims.
The survivors have since built Gearspire Bastion, a thriving city bustling with ancestries from all over. Its people are slowly discovering the wonders of magical technology, as the capital enters its Golden Age.
Its Nagaji population, who mostly reside in the swamp, were unaffected by this Plague, and continue to be mostly isolated to this day.
General information
Geography
The Blighted Sunscape is a vast region with a handful of different biomes. From its mountains to its peculiar swamp, there is plenty to explore. Jagged mountains border the region, and separate it from The Ancients' Forest and World's Eye. Its vast desert contains sand, scrubs, and the remnants of past settlements which were destroyed by 820PGC-824PGC: The Boiling Plague.
Devils have swarmed these ruins, claiming them as their own as they march in towards Gearspire Bastion.
Political Relationships
Blightsteel Dominion rules over what's left of the major settlements, mostly residing in the capital, though looking to expand. This need for expansion clashes with Venomcoil Tribe, who wish to keep outsiders away from their Plague-free swamps.
The Infernal Inquisition is starting to invade the Sunscape, though their exact motivations are unknown. Rumour has it they received a powerful boon from an ancient source, and are reclaiming the area in its name. The Canidae High Society seems to be on their side, covering up the war they're waging against the Dominion, happy to get rid of them and their horrible inventions.
Government
While Blightsteel Dominion is currently the most dominant force in the region, they are being threatened by The Infernal Inquisition and Canidae High Society.
Venomcoil Tribe govern themselves.
Regional Gods
While religion is mostly left up to the individuals, most residing in the Sunscape find themselves worshipping Solariel, god of the Sun and Architecture. He brings light after the darkness of the Plague, and is a beacon of hope for many.
Those residing in the capital city may be more drawn to Ingenos however, as he rules over Technology and Craftsmanship.
Other notable gods are Astradyne, who provides healing to those in need, and Nagaya, goddess of the Nagaji.
