The Ancients' Forest has been around for as long as there's been written history. Enchanted by forgotten gods of old, the area carries an old form of magic that laid dormant for decades.
Rumour has it, 823PGC: The Solar Eclipse that happened recently has awakened some of this ancient magic. And with the recent uprising in Phantoms, it seems that things are about to change.
The Ancients' Forest is a huge forest, mostly set in a continental climate. The exception to this is the patch of rainforest in the west, where the faith of the Solar Orcs has blessed the forest with the light of Solariel.
A jagged mountain range to the south separates the forest from The Blighted Sunscape, and a vast ocean surrounds the remainder of the region.
Throughout the forest, one can expect to find all kinds of ruins from previous eras. Most of these lay undocumented, as no cartographer has visited the lands in centuries.
The Ancients' Forest stands separated from the other regions, with no particular relationships as it is self-sustaining.
Both the Inventor's Dominion and the Runebound Adventuring Guild are investigating the secrets that lie within the forest, putting them at odds with each other.
In the background, the Verminian Federation are revolting against the Clawstrider Nomads, as they are their natural predators. The Solar Orcs have aided the Clawstrider Nomads in finding a place to rest, though they have not taken any side in particular, only wishing to aid those in need.
All the while, the Extraplanar Discovery Consortium is looking to investigate the area, believing that there are extraplanar forces at play.
There is no particular government in place. The various groups and tribes rule themselves, and while settlements have trading agreements, none of it is overseen by any form of central government.
Polytheism is encouraged within the forest, and most pray to more than one god in the hopes to continue peacefully living their lives. Verdanwyth has the most dedicated churches, as she rules over the forests of the world.
Covens of Astradyne are also common, and the faith in Solariel is being spread by the Solar Orcs. The Clawstrider Nomads have pledged themselves to Kaelen, who encourages their nomadic and curiousity-driven lifestyle.
Some smaller groups believe in gods that have mostly been forgotten, their documentation lost to time. What exactly these gods and their practices entail remains unknown.
