In the era of the Beasts, deep within the vast forest, a laboratory found its place. A brilliant but reckless alchemist, whose name is since lost to time, sought to harness the raw power of the flames. He summoned flames from another realm, hoping to bind them to his will. Flame however, is not to be controlled by humanity. The flames spiraled out of control, unleashing an inferno that consumed huge parts of the laboratory and everything within it.

From the ashes rose a spirit, shaped like a fox and made out of flame, an Avatar of the god of Fear. The fox, Kindlifir, embodies the raw unbridled power of fire, and the desolation it brings.

When the Beasts roamed the lands and magic was not yet bound, deep within the forest two leylines crossed. A group of mages, hungry for all knowledge the world had to offer, started a ritual, drawing on the energy of the leylines. The ritual went awry, the mages underestimating the vastness of knowledge. From the depths of their miscalculations emerged a spreading patch of darkness that enveloped the land around into an eternal night.

In this night you may find a patch of true darkness the shape of a hound, attributed to the god of Fear. The hound, Sgaileach, embodies the fear of the unknown that lurks in shadows and hidden corners.
