The history of Eilvalor as it is remembered.

Eras

Realm of Faërie

The mortal realm and the world of Faërie overlapped. The land was full of wonder and magic and danger. Humans cowered in isolated tribes and villages. The dwarves of old went underground to build their great civilization and were never heard from again.

Rise of the Eilvalorian Kings

The Eilvalorians arrived from beyond the misty sea. They pushed back Faërie and established their kingdom from coast to coast. They began their Great Works.

Hundred-Years Winter

A wicked chill rose in the north. The Cold Prince pierced the Veil between worlds and spread his influence from his kingdom in Faërie, cloaking Eilvalor in his frozen winter for a hundred years. The Eilvalorians ended their Great Works as they warred against the Cold Prince. He was eventually defeated and driven back, but at great cost.

Decline of the Eilvalorian Kings

The line of the Eilvalorian Kings splintered and their rulership fractured. Princes feuded for lineage and land. A once great kingdom began to crumble. The noble houses began to gain power.

Time of the Empty Throne

The last Eilvalorian king died. The kingdom retreated (from the Grimmark and other places) and became a duchy, ruled by the House of Fellweald. They introduce the land to the Church of All-Saints, which grew in power and influence. Without the Eilvalorians holding it at bay, Faërie began to creep back into the land.
