Made it to Peru and the bar. Met a lovely man, Declan, and a beautiful girl with bright red hair, Iris.
Finally got to Larkin, who looks very ill but who knows. His assistant is strange and potentially an issue with a cult/monster past, but their folklorist friend Hughes is more friendly and well spoken but not a fan of his work in my opinion. and he lied about his name....its actually Jackson Elias. I really dont like that he lied to us. Another man joined us, Vincent and he was a bit....arrogant, and that is saying something for me.
Elias, followed de Mendoza and Larkin here. Very strange considering he lied to us about his name at first. Wonder if he lied to them the whole time too or if they were in on it.
Iris seems suspicious of de Mendoza that he might be poisoning Larkin for a cultish reason. Not sure how much I trust her, but he is very ill and that might make more sense
Overall it was an interesting day and I hope that no one realizes who I am or where I really come from. I think they are suspicious but Im trying my best to be vague and obtuse about it all.
Mr Webb (Declan), was accommodating in walking me back to my room and I appreciated it very much.
Well time to tuck in and get ready for tomorrow and getting ready for our crazy adventure. Maybe I can actually find someone here or on our way who knows about this pendant.
Journal 2 - March 19
Met up with Declan and Iris in the morning before we headed out.
We went out to the market area, it sounds like Iris stole something. I cant believe she would do that, but I think it would be interesting to be able to do that and not get in trouble for it.
Meet back up with Jackson Elias to go to the museum. Vincent showed up late, which Im actually surprised he showed up at all.
Professor Sanchez was surprised at our presence which made me a bit frustrated as maybe he was not sharing as much as he knew. Thinks Larkin wants to loot the historical site (pyramids) and take the artifacts for himself even though he has never seen him face to face. He seems very desperate to come with us, probably because he isn't man enough to go himself.
We all saw someone die today (Rizzou, the one we met in the market). That was surreal and surprisingly, Vincent had the hardest time with it, like he saw something that wasnt really there.
Went to find help and found where there were papers on fire instead. Elias was there trying to put them out. They looked to be blank but not sure if there could have been something I couldnt see. T
he professor was on the ground shaking saying "he kissed me" with his skin burning from some...white....something. So unsettling and so unnerving. Maybe Im not cut out for this adventure after all...
Journal 3 - March 19 (part 2)
Elias helped get everyone get back to me...tried to get the white off the profs face...water ddint work, it came off like a wax.
Stomach moved like something was inside....Declan came to rescue me
Not sure who Iris is or where she is from but she was not worried about touching the professor and tried to help him. Super worried about what was inside him but Declan decided the best way to help was to try to cut the thing out of him! I cannot believe he did it....IN HIS THROAT!
The thing was fatty and writhing like a grub in mud. I cant believe my eyes at what came out of someone.
So many feelings for today.....Im so grossed out, confused, guilty and just honestly scared being on this adventure so far.
Im so guilty for hurtin Declan like i did. That feather was so much longer and weighted odd that i hit his chin and we had to take him to hospital. It was upsetting. Also found out he is married....also upsetting.
I cant be alone tonight, i cant handle it so I stayed with Iris. Maybe I can gain more insight into who she is and where she is from. Im very intrigued by her confidence and appearance. Journal 4 - March 20
I cant believe it! Started the day insanely. Iris had a dream about something happening in room 410...not sure where or who was there but she thinks it was all of us with her. So exciting to be around this group.
Oh man, Declan looks so rough. It looks to hurt horribly. My guilt is insane and I dont know how to make it up to him or make this better. Im so worried he wont trust me with anything now. Going to try to lay low today and just try to help when they absolutely need me.
Didnt want to ride with him because i felt so bad, but wanted to so i could get to know him more and apologize profusely.
Iris did my reading and it was so spot on. I guess maybe se just might speculate, im bad at hiding who I am or shes true to the cards but these were SPOT ON.

I was really worried about how we started this journey, but she told me something that Ive never considered before - maybe the people who died are in a better place and not cursed/haunted anymore. That makes me feel so much relief and comfort about it instead of thinking they were innocent but in the wrong place, around the wrong people, at the wrong time.
I wish i had her growing up....but today I have made a true friend. Something Ive never had or understood before. She is open to me without even knowing who i am or where I am from, just getting to know....me.
Journal 5 - March 21
Woke up still sick from being this high in the mountains. Declan, the kind gentleman that he is, tried to help us feel better. Whether i actually do or not, I cannot stand to let him down but a girl can only fake feeling well so much.
We made it all the way to the lake. Iris found ginger ale to help. So very thankful to have her on this mission and as a friend. This place is beautiful and the lake is insane. Theres man made islands all over the lake. It is truly incredible to witness
we tried this new restaurant ad had the best biscuits and shrimp Ive ever had. I cant wait to take in all the culture and other cuisine they have to offer. This is amazing and wish it was just a trip instead of a mission. Id love to come back to this place just to enjoy it without the fear of what is to come. Maybe we can all come back here if we all make it through and enjoy this beautiful area
The man made islands on the lake are so complex. We actually got to go on one to fine Elias' friend Nyara. She told us an insane story of God's at the lake and leading them to armadillo burrows? That was so strange. But then someone locked the god away with spells and now everyone respects and leaves the place (a temple) alone....why would no one try to free the god of the sky? She started to speak of Matchakuna that seek out humans to eat. I couldn't handle and left. Declan was so kind to me when i went to join him outside.
My god....gunshots and screams as i sit writing in my journal.
Journal 6 - March 22 (morning after the gunshots)
I was wrong before, I dont ever want to come back here after what I saw last night. As we paddled out on the lake I felt like i led everyone astray with what i thought were gunshots. It was so misty on the lake maybe i heard something wrong. But as we got closer Vincent saw fire and even though i knew what could be my stomach dropped as we got closer. We were so far from actual land it was scary to not know what we could find as there was no where to go
we put out the fires and found Nyara, emaciated like Rizzou was. Makes me fill so ill and sad and making me wonder why I am on this "adventure". I dont feel like Im cut out for this. I would not be able to continue on with this if it werent for Declan and Iris.

The departure with Larkin was, as expected an abrupt but slow one. It happened so fast after he got there, but we moved so slow because he is basically a walking skeleton at this point. We have so far to go, even after the ride today.
Journal 7 - March 23
Boys had a wager overnight about Larkin, whether he would wake up. I think there is something magical or mysterious that is keeping him alive.
Woke up in the middle of the night to one of the donkeys braying for no reason. feel stupid for sticking my head out. But I was too freaked out and got everyone up. Im not sure about this place. Too many things just dont feel right.
Iris and I went to wake up Larkin and he had a tie around an arm and a syringe in his arm with a vial of something next to him. (heroina) Maybe thats what was keeping him going and he just over did it. He muttered expedition. Maybe dreaming of what we are doing, or that we are in danger. Figuring this man out is a huge challenge. The stench coming off him is gut wrenching and he had a very different demeaner today. Very pushy to get going while still being very uninformative. Its getting very frustrating and I cant trust this man.
We came across someone who was hurt and they almost killed us in the process, but everyone else got them to understand we were not there to hurt them. So thankful. I cant imagine what would happen if one of us got hurt again or actually died. .Not sure what to expect anymore
On the bright side, the vistas in the peruvian northern highlands are beautiful even if there is possible death at the other end at least we will have seen this.

We made it to the pyramid
Saw people on top with distended stomachs - one started retching white fat
As we went up, we hear whistling (wind?)
we made it in the "pyramid". I can't believe i went down the hole wtih Declan, but I felt a little eerie about Elias just going with him for some reason. Just not comfortable with an outsider being alone with one of our own. Still feel bad about how much I hurt Declan, guess I need to get over it, but I've never hurt someone like that that could be my friend.
Piles of bodies in the pit, we found the way we needed to go, but something happened with Larkin. I was in the pit with Iris, Declan told us to stay down. I only ever saw what looked like tentacles in the sky. Not sure what kind of magic that was. but by the time they said it was all clear to come up, Larkin was dead, tentacles were gone and the boys burned his body. Heading back down in the pit was frightening but not sure staying up top was any better.
We continue on, found two very emaciated people, Mendoza and someone else and they were the ones who Iris saw vomiting into the top of the pyramid. Declan and Vincent took them out....while they were sleeping. But they werent sleeping....they rolled over after getting shot with wide open mouths, rows of teeth?? What is this, where are we? This is too much!

Iris starts questioning if there are weapons or helmets or things. Looks to be some of the fake artifacts, but nothing seriously usable
Iris and I distract Silas while Declan unlocks the trap door behind the counter as vincent slipped the key off Silas' neck. Declan sees steep stairs and a hallway with stone slabs make up the walls have weird tribal symbols (arcane)
Declan knocks out Silas and ties him up, we clear the back room. Vincent finds an animal skin with a mummified human tongue, a wrap with the bloody tongue symbol and a large curve knife
We take Silas and start down the stairs - see a door - Iris picks the lock - pitch black room, stone walls with weird symbols, there are torches on the walls. curtain across the room , large african drums on the perimeter with a large well with a slab across the top that has chains with a 'crane' to lift it up. looks to be where there would be spots for 2 people to be strung up the wall
vincent pushes the curtain aside - see shrine alcove with what looks like zombies sitting on either side - throats slit but lunge toward us #initiative
we check the alcove - find another bloody tongue wrap mask thing, but decorated with human tongue, high priest robe, lions claws (that look to be what slit the throats), we FOUND THE MISSING BOOK FROM THE LIBRARY!! carved wooden african mask, copper bowl with runes etched in, carved scepter, headband of grey metal with runes (slightly warm to the touch), Modern marine time piece but its showing Greenwich mean time, locked cash box (vincent opens, jewelry from victims, handbill for Anthony (Carlyle paper 7)
