The air hangs heavy in the subterranean alcove, thick with the scent of dust, mildew, and something else... something undefinable. Strange symbols, etched deep into the damp stone walls, seem to writhe and twist in the flickering light of a single, exposed bulb. A makeshift shelf sags under the weight of countless jars, each filled with bizarre specimens—fossils caked in unknown substances, vials of mercury shimmering ominously, and withered flowers of a color so dark they seem to absorb the very light around them.

But our view transcends this macabre still life, soaring upwards through the floorboards above. We emerge into a cramped bedroom, a chaotic tableau of discarded clothing and an unmade bed. Our gaze is drawn to a closet, where a lacquered box rests concealed behind a dusty hatbox on the highest shelf.

A skeletal hand, trembling with either anticipation or trepidation, reaches out to claim the box. Its contents are revealed: a syringe and a vial filled with a viscous, greenish liquid. You see the syringe fill with the greenish liquid, the needle glinting ominously in the dim light. It stops at a residue line, left from the countless times this ritual has been performed. The hand, now shaking violently, plunges the syringe into exposed flesh.

A close-up reveals eyes, wide with desperate fervor, rolling back as the drug takes hold. The body collapses, a puppet with its strings cut. Tears stream down a gaunt face, the eyes twitching spasmodically in their sockets.

Our perspective drifts away, towards a framed oil painting, resting against the wall. It depicts a flower, a black lotus in full bloom, its petals radiating an almost unnatural darkness. The colors are garish, almost toxic. It is a thing of beauty, yet a sense of twisted oblivion corrupts your view...

Then everything fades to black...
