Fhel 16, 2425 - Chapter 2 - Session 10 - Is that a storm or a Bear Rave (insert EDM music here)

We woke up early and started out on our journey to Stormbreak Rise. The morning went by without incident. As we spotted Stormbreak Rise we saw a dense chaotic storm up ahead. As we approached the static in the air was so thick you could hear the hum and those of us with longer hair started seeing it levitate due to the static. Amani had the great idea of making a quick lightning rod to help keep any rogue strikes off of our group I took that idea and made up some grounding rigs to keep us grounded and resist any strikes as we continued to move. Odra gave us a quick safety course on lightning and how it behaves. Z'ed was looking around when a stray bolt from the storm came out of nowhere with a crack and flash and struck her. The grounding rig worked like a charm but was also destroyed and I had to make another one for her. After the short delay we continued to the peak into the heart of the storm. We arrived at the Grove at the top of the hill. At this point the lightning was flashing like a strobe light and the gusts of wind were whipping up all the leaves and debris. Bruin and Amani carved some grounding ruins into the ground and were able to anchor some of the energies. Odra charted the currents to predict where the lightning might strike and found some safe zones for us to operate in. Z'ed nailed some spikes into the ground to add some additions grounding to the area. Klackers scouted out some weak anchors which we could take advantage of while I was able to steady the Ritual Pulse making it easier to complete the Cinderheart ritual rites. With all those prepped we got to work trying to heal the Grove. Bruin stood up deflecting literal lightning away and grounding it away from us. Odra yelled into the storm and beyond all belief the storm seemed to recoil a the threatening yell. She somehow scared a fucking storm. It started lashing out at everyone. I could feel the electricity course through me as we all felt the shock hit us. While all this was going on I rebuilt a makeshift Cinderheart frame. Klackers purified the soil from the corruption it was tainted with. Amani cast some anchor rites to lock down the foul energies that were feeding the frenzied storm above. We heard a crack but this time not of lightning but almost of something breaking free. The flashing stopped momentarily then they were there. 3 hideous shapes emerged from the clouds around the top of the hill and descended upon us. Creatures of pure lightning horror. Like Bruin jacked up on electricity and energy drinks. They came at us like a frenzy of claws and flashes. Klackers was knocked down then Odra. Amani summoned a thrall and shot it with some occult spell. Odra was able to get to her feet and close the gap to the one that knocked her down. Bruin swiped at one with his claws and slashed the hell out of the electric bear and then tried to wrestle the thing into submission. From the ground Klackers cast bless on the group and swung his walking stick wildly making contact with the creature. I whipped up an inflammation flask and hit the one attacking Odra directly but then I proceeded to miss with my alchemist fire. Klackers took another intense strike from the one mauling him. Amani cast a blinding spell that dazed one and it lost focus on the combat. Odra got bit and the bear unleashed a current of electricity into Odra through the bite. Her body fell to the ground limp and unconscious. Things weren't looking good for us. Klackers got to his feet and bonked the one attacking him and headed towards Odra. I got to her first and administered an elixir of life to heal her and bring her back to consciousness. The one Klackers left behind turned and attacked the closest enemy which was now Amani. Z'ed used the power of the storm against one wit tempest touch but the beast was able to resist the effect. She then cast impending doom this time with success and frightened the beast. Amani sunned the beast between herself and Bruin. Odra got to her feet and took a mighty slash at the bear. Bruin kept mauling the one he was attacking striking true and grabbed it and choke slammed the creature into the muddy ground. Klackers met up with me and administered some risky surgery on Odra trying to help heal some more of her wounds. He was able to get her almost back to prefight condition so I took a step back from the melee to help him and administered another elixir of life to him as well. The fight with the others raged on and I looked over to see Z'ed getting knocked down by the other bear. She rolled away and got up shooting her needledarts but missed unfortunately. Amani's thrall stuck the bear with a sounding thud. Odra let out a horrifying yell scaring one of the 2 and it started to flee in fear. The one in front of Odra stayed and squared up to Odra and knocked her to the ground in a bloody heap unconscious again. Bruin started running down the fleeing bear and chomped into it with his strong jaw and it crackled in his mouth like shocking good pop rocks as its life left its body. I got another elixir thrown together to help Odra again as Klackers and I got into a spat about just attacking the bear and worrying about Odra after. I got her up and then to appease Klackers tried to throw an alchemist fire at it and of course missed. At least it took some burn from the splash of the fire. Amani came up and peppered it with some needle darts but it still stood. How tanky is this guy!? Odra tried to finish it off and missed like a child swinging a toy sword. The Bear let out a mighty roar and took a giant swipe at Odra and she feel again this time she looked like she was preparing to meet her maker. Her lifeless bloody body just laying there. Just when I thought she was gone I saw the smallest spark of life remain in her. Her breathing was shallow but there. She wasn't gone just yet. Bruin not knowing this attacked the bear and destroyed it in a pummeling of claws and bites. With the fight over Klackers started tending to Odra trying to get her stabilized. It took some time but he was able to get her stable and get her to regain consciousness. She was still in rough shape but she was alive. Back to the task at hand we still had to stabilize this place. Odra tried to help and the storm lashed out at her and was zapped by a thunderous bolt. Bruin shattered the syndicate rods that were hidden amongst the rocks. The storm has been anchored and the syndicate cannot use it for their cause any longer. We decided to stick around and push our luck with the storm to harness some of the power for our aid. Amani summoned a troop of thralls to function as lightning rods to help dissipate the chance we are hit again. Bruin purified the ground more and like a candle being snuffed out the storm calmed and bent to his will. He acquired a Storm Cannon Crystal. Seems strong and powerful with the strength of a mighty storm encased inside. Battered bruised and bloodied we started the long decent down the peak and back towards our camp.
