Fhel 1, 2425 - Chapter 2 - Session 5 - New Year New Determination
We got back to camp. It was a quiet and solemn trek back. The weight of our actions on our minds.
Klackers informed us that based on the documents he stole there is some machine that is probably on its way to our camp. That sounds like a problem for future Flint though.
Some patrols for the camp captured some scouts and gathered their supplies. Some goodies for our mission.
A scary helm that I can put a dread ampule into and scare the hell out of some unsuspecting saps, some vials I can reverse engineer, a healing staff, a belt to help with proper lifting, a arrow that doesn't seem much use to us, a very sharp glaive, and a nice chunk of change.
We got as good a sleep as we could manage and woke up bright and early to prepare for another sabotage mission. This time its personal.
The security was beefed up even more. They are really on high alert for us now. We decide to split up into larger groups so no one is left alone incase things go sideways. Klackers and Odra went to the Overseers Tower. Amani, Bruin, and myself headed to the Processing Floor. Z'ed went off alone to the Emberkilns. Everything went off without a hitch minus Odra accidently fixing the alarm a little. I chose to stick around the Processing Floor to make sure it was down for good. Bruin joined Z'ed at the Emberkiln. Klackers hung out trying to undo Odra's mistake at the Overseer's Tower while she headed to the Rail Spurs. Again we were successful. This was going easy almost too easy . . . I stayed with Amani to help her out at the Logging Trenches. Bruin joined up with us while Klackers and Z'ed joined Odra and at the Spurs. Everything in the complex seemed to be malfunctioning at random now due to our efforts. Great news! Unfortunately the efforts over at the Rail Spurs roused some suspicions. I tried to rush over to Klackers to help at the Spurs while the rest of the group gathered at the Grove Cradle. Klackers and I were able to take care at the Rail Spurs and got the hell out of there and booked it to the Grove Cradle to see how our compatriots were fairing. They had gotten in and out by time we got to them. We all retreated to the woods and headed back to camp now that the whole complex was in disarray. A very successful outing. Now we prepare for the final assault tomorrow.
As we prepared to leave camp in the morning, Klackers summoned a freaking giant hippopotamus to ride into battle on. What the crap!!!
We barrel into the complex already a battlefield of the freed slaves and the syndicate. We emerge from the tree line to a volley of arrows. Klackers majestic hippo vanished as the arrows peppered it and Klackers along with Bruin and Odra. Bruin rushed in to meet the army head on as Klackers followed for support. Z'ed summoned thunder and lightning from the sky and struck the group lighting their asses up! I threw a alchemist fire into the center of the group and they erupted in flames. As the fight tipped in our favor this mechanized booming approached the field of battle. Goblins riding atop these machines of death lumbering forward with disregard of anything and everything in their way. Meanwhile the group of soldiers we were fighting turtled up with halberds out like a battle porcupine. Klackers and Bruin continued to batter and beat on them as more of their number fell to their strikes. Z'ed threw a lightning lance of some kind at the group with sparks and flashes as it struck the group. Odra commanded Bruin to unleash an epic strike at their defensed as paws and jaws meet shields. Amani summoned 3 thralls strategically around the enemy group. I threw a vial of fire at the group and missed horribly but at least the splash caught a couple of them. I yelled to PIP to engage the group and strike out with his drills and mechanical limbs but he is still new to fighting so that didn't go well. As the fight raged on the Grove Cradle standing at the edge of the field of battle the Grove Keeper approached the tree and drove her limbs into the trunk of the tree. Magic surged, encompassing the dryad absorbing her into itself. The Grove Cradle faded into death as the power surged from it to the mechanized machines that continued to march closer and closer to our position. The gargantuan mech of destruction with steam spewing form its pistons and saw blade hands whirling and grinding stepped over fallen logs and tried to crush Klackers beneath its metal feet. It swung out at Bruin striking him with one of its saw blades. Amani used her thralls to unleash a boney barrage exploding in a cone of bone shrapnel shredding through the remaining soldiers. Now its just us and the giant mech of death. This is far from over. I threw a bottled lightning at the machine and thew it off guard. Then proceeded to miss with another bomb. Batting 1000 today. Klackers unleashed an aura to strengthen our attacks. Bruin drank the mutagen I gave him to increase his durability in this head to head fight with the metal abomination. Z'ed targeted the legs of the machine with her lightning javelin striking true. The machine reeled back and arms and legs drew closer to the body and started spinning around its body like a whirling dervish of blades. Caught in the fury, Klackers got beat to hell. PIP, Bruin, and Odra took quite a scuffing as well. I too drank my drakeheart mutagen in case the fight got physical with me. Klackers tried to do some battlefield healing but the chaos was a little too much to focus and he almost offed himself in the process. Odra leapt into the air and cleaved one of its arms clean off the body as it crashed to the ground with a ringing ting. It entered a mechanized rage and lashed out at Bruin, Odra and Klackers almost knocking them out of the fight. I rushed up to Odra and whipped up a quick elixir of life to bring her away from death's door.
I don't know if we will all be walking away from this fight.
