“The mind is a vast ocean, its currents shaped by thought and feeling. Those who master its tides can move mountains and shatter souls.”
Long ago, when the world was young and the boundaries between mind and matter were thin as silk, there was a city called Ilveshara, a place where psychics and empaths lived in harmony. Ilveshara’s inhabitants believed that thought could shape reality, that emotions were currents flowing through the river of existence. They meditated for days, sometimes weeks, until their wills became as strong as steel and their emotions as fluid as water.
In this city, there was a psychic prodigy named Naledi Velis, a child whose mind was a storm of untamed power. Naledi could move objects with a thought, push minds to the brink, and peel away lies as if they were paper masks. Yet Naledi’s mind was also a torrent of unchecked emotion—rage, sorrow, love, and fear, all in a ceaseless, whirling dance.
Fearing Naledi’s growing instability, the elders of Ilveshara sought to teach them control. They forged five relics, each representing a different facet of the conscious mind: Focus, Will, Emotion, Perception, and Command. These relics were known collectively as The Lucent Affect.
Mask of Empathy – A porcelain half-mask, cool to the touch, that allowed Naledi to read the emotional waves of others, grounding them against the storm within.
Ring of Emotional Potency – A silver ring that amplified their emotional magic, turning empathy into a weapon or shield.
Cloak of the Bat – A dark mantle that cloaked Naledi in shadow, hiding them from the minds of others while allowing them to listen and observe.
Veil of the Dreamer – A shroud woven from the very dreams of Ilveshara’s greatest psychics, connecting Naledi to the subconscious of those around them.
Mask of Allure – The missing half of the Mask of Empathy, a mirrored mask that reflected the true self back at the world, allowing Naledi to shape perception as easily as they shaped thought.
For a time, the Lucent Affect kept Naledi stable, allowing them to channel their power with precision and grace. But the storm within could not be silenced forever.
One night, when the Twin Moons eclipsed the sun, Ilveshara fell into a trance-like state. Every citizen felt Naledi’s emotions as if they were their own—rage that seared like flame, sorrow that chilled to the bone, love that pulsed through the air like a heartbeat. In that moment, Naledi’s power surged beyond control, a tidal wave of raw psychic force that shattered the walls of Ilveshara and scattered the relics across the world.
Ilveshara became a ruin, a haunted echo of the mind that was once its greatest prodigy. The Lucent Affect remains lost, its pieces whispered of in the dreams of empaths and psychics, each relic calling out to those whose minds are open enough to hear.
But the Mask of Allure has never been found. Some say it was lost in the depths of the astral sea, a piece of Naledi’s fractured mind left adrift, awaiting the one whose will is strong enough to wield both mind and emotion as one.
