The Cycle as an Agreement

As an accord, The Cycle binds The Council from directly interfering with the inhabitants of The Sheltered Plane, referred to as The Bound. In return for sharing their immense power and cosmic life force, The Bound are tasked with maintaining The Sheltered Plane and protecting it from threats both external and internal. While the exact benefits The Council gains from The Bound remain a mystery, it is widely acknowledged that the metaverse owes its survival to this arrangement.

The Cycle as a Process

The Cycle is also a metaphysical process that governs the journey of Souls through death, judgment, cleansing, and rebirth. This process begins with the death of a Soul, which then travels to Nometathra, a liminal plane where Souls exist in a state of reflection and interaction. In Nometathra, Souls may linger for as long as they feel necessary before seeking judgment. However, Souls with malicious intent may attempt to remain hidden within Nometathra, awaiting an opportunity to return to The Sheltered Plane through nefarious means. When a Soul achieves this goal they are labeled a Fel Touched. Such wicked Souls can be expelled from Nometathra by the collective effort of other Souls.

When ready, Souls leave Nometathra and ascend towards Eleriwen, the Plane of Creation, which manifests in The Sheltered Plane as the sun. Here, they await the arrival of The Veil, a physical and spiritual phenomenon that facilitates the transition of Souls between planes. The Veil, responsible for the day and night cycle, serves as a conduit for Souls as they move toward judgment.

Judgment and Cleansing

Souls are transported from Nometathra to Arshi, the Plane of Death, where they undergo judgment and focusing, a purification process that prepares them for their next life. Each Soul’s Focusing period varies, as the process is tailored to the unique experiences and deeds of the individual. Only when a Soul is deemed ready is it transported back to Eleriwen, where it briefly touches Creation before being reborn.

Rebirth Across the Planes

Most Souls are reborn on The Sheltered Plane, but some may find themselves reborn on other planes, as these realms also host life and the propagation of new souls. The Cycle ensures the continuous renewal of life across the metaverse, maintaining the delicate balance between the planes.
