Ven 35-43, 2424 - Chapter 2 - Session 1 - Stoking the Flames of Rebellion/ and also Dragons?!

We returned to Roveyporth heroes of the resistance. The village is now openly known as the center of the resistance headed up by the Stonekeepers.
The town is more alive then ever before. I can feel the hope the people of this place carry with them. They carry it high with pride and defiance.
We know that the shadow of the syndicate still looms over the region. What's more is that they know us and our hand in the events in the area. Like it or not we are apart of this fight now.
After a few days back at town we even started hearing whispers that the local kids had given our group a couple nicknames. Some called us The Six" and "The Ones that Returned". We are a certified band of heroes now. We need a catchy name to match our heroic deeds. . .

We spend the next few days helping rebuild what was lost in the fires and fighting. The locals now look at us as friends and with a trust earned through blood and sweat. During this rebuilding the Stonekeepers brought back some salvaged goods from the warehouse and the Syndicate's presence in the area. We received a nice chunk of gold as thanks along with a few trinkets; A ghast stiletto that looks spooky, an Animal staff that could conjure a fluffy companion in a fight, a striking scimitar, a ghost touch rune, (I might be able to move those runes to another weapon(s) of our party), some alchemist goggles that look pretty spiffy on me, an alchemist chart that could help my make my combat mixtures last a bit longer in a pinch, some odd elixirs and potions I will have to learn and a magic scroll of fairy fire. We divey out the equipment and I must say we look and feel like the heroes they are making us out to be.

We found ourselves with some well deserved down time to relax, rest, resupply, and for the most part take a break from some fighting for our lives. Z'ed really needed it as she was banging on deaths door there for a minute. But after she was her old self again she spent some time around town doing some tattoos for the locals. Amani was off talking to that cursed book of his. I don't trust it. I already hate magic and that thing makes me hate it all the more. Klackers spent his free time helping around town setting up a free clinic and just helping where he could. Bruin started offering what he called "Cub Defense" classes to the children. Teaching them bear hugs and the like.
Of course the whole time day drinking while he taught and helped rebuild the town. Talk about an OSHA nightmare!

A few days into our time back at Roveyporth, Laslyn seemed to be not quite herself. Ever since the sundering of the alter in our last fight she seemed off. Turns out a ring she had been wearing was broken during the encounter. Upon noticing this she slipped the broken band off her finger to inspect it. As soon as she did a rumbling like a distant thunderstorm echoed through the town, growing louder and more intense. The air around Laslyn seemed to shimmer like the distortion caused by heat from a forge. Her skin started to turn a copper color and turn from soft flesh into rows of scales. They glowed with magical light as if they were made of molten gold. Her hair floated, caught up in an unseen wind as behind her unfurled a pair of massive wings like uncoiled steel. Gasps of awe from other onlookers filled the silence. In that moment Laslyn as we all knew her was reborn into something else, her true self. No longer Laslyn but Odra'zaid'kyth'zryndae (Good luck pronouncing that. I'm just gonna call her Odra or O.Z.) a gods damn dragon was right fucking there in front of us. Not a giant dragon as you would think but a human size copper dragon yet still a dragon in every sense. Scales, horns, spikes the whole nine yards. Needless to say I absolutely am beside myself.

I hate everything about this. Fucking dragons. We all had our suspicions about her and now I'm even more suspicious. This new revelation doesn't take away from her recent deeds but I cant help but see her through a new lens. I'm not sure I will be able to put my own bias aside and accept her like I once did.
The commotion of the spectators alerted the rest of the group who came to find Odra now where their friend once was. They seemed very intriged and in awe of this new form she had taken. Bruin almost thought it was a drunken hallucination and couldnt believe his eyes. Z'ed who was the first to arrive didn't seem all that surprised. I wonder if she had a sneaking suspicion that there was more than meets the eye to Laslyn for some time. I just kept my distance and almost had a mental break. I decided to quietly take my leave to get some distance and calm my mind.

The rest of that week I kept distant and to myself, spending most my time alone with PIP. To the rest of the group it probably felt as if I wasn't even there this week.
