Summer Seas

Much like some islands within the Sea of Constant Drift seem to hold their own climates regardless of their place, there are sections of the seas which do much the same. Druids, Mystics, Mages, and more have speculated over what causes these spaces of open water to keep their nature. Submarine gates to other planes? Sunken islands, drifting far below the surface? No one is certain. Among the most famous of these is the Summer Seas or the Summer Sea.

Stretching 350 miles east-to-west and 160 miles north-to-south, the Summer Seas are a patch of ocean where the climate is consistently hot and sunny. For those lands that drift within or across the Summer Seas, it brings welcome respite from the torrents of rain and churning waves which linger about its flanks. But there is peril within its peace as well.

Linger too long, and the lack of rains and constant sun can dry crops to ruin on land. And sail into it at your own risk, as the calm breeze and pacific waves might make for a much needed break for storm-tossed sailors only to leave them becalmed for a week or more while they wait for this surfeit of paradoxical paradise to drift past them, that their sails might again bite the wind.
