Gregory the Traveling Grocer

Gregory the Traveling Grocer

Race: Human

Age: Elderly (appears late 70s)

Occupation: Traveling Grocer and Curio Merchant

Notable Feature: Vibrant, multicolored cart filled with eclectic wares

Description

Gregory is an elderly human grocer known across the lands for his colorful, patchwork cart brimming with an assortment of curious items, some magical, most decidedly not. With a wild white beard, and suspiciously wide grin, Gregory brings his shop on wheels to towns and outposts far and wide. His wares are as diverse as they are unpredictable: tarnished trinkets, half-charged amulets, slightly enchanted cookware, curious herbs, enchanted stones of dubious power, and even the occasional potion of “questionable reliability.”

Gregory’s cart is famous not only for its eclectic stock but also for the faded, colorful flags and charms that decorate it. The cart itself is enchanted to follow him without need of a horse, though it creaks and sways, giving off the impression it has a mind of its own. Gregory’s goods are often scavenged from old ruins, bought from adventurers who don’t know what they’ve found or just magically appear in his card.

Gregory is as mysterious as he is cheerful, seeming to glide from place to place without lifting a foot. Observant travelers claim they've seen him in two places at once, waving them over to his cart with a hearty chuckle before disappearing and reappearing nearby as if by magic. No one knows where he’ll show up next, yet he always seems to be in just the right place, ready to greet “adventurers” with open arms and the promise of new treasures.

48h guarantee

Gregory is famous (or infamous) for his “48-hour guarantee” on everything he sells. With a wink and a grin, he’ll assure customers, “If it doesn’t work, bring it back within two days, and I’ll give you your coin back. Guaranteed!” Of course, with his unpredictable travel schedule, finding him again within that time frame is often a quest of its own.

Nevertheless, the few who have managed to locate him within those 48 hours have found him true to his word, always ready to take back an item with a shrug and a cheerful, “Can’t please everyone!” But most adventurers are too intrigued (or too amused) to ask for refunds, finding that, for better or worse, Gregory’s items have a strange way of serving a purpose, even if it’s not quite the one they expected.
