Moor cotton, or simply just cotton as most locals are apt to call it, is a simple shrub that grows throughout the wind-swept moors or any other place that is open to the skies. Its brown stalks are topped with a ball of soft white fibre known to be particularly soft. On windy days, these white fluffs are taken into the air, along with the plant’s seeds, and are blown over the surrounding plain until they touch down and create a new plant. Locals often collect the fibres and use them to make clothing or other cloth-based items.
