Reputation and Favor: Faction Standing in Starfall Galaxy

Reputation and Favor determine how factions and organizations respond to player characters across the Starfall Galaxy. Earn Favor to unlock unique equipment, learn skills and archetypes, enlist allies, and command respect—or lose them and trigger perilous consequences. Thresholds reflect your standing —from Hated outcast to Revered icon —and affect story arcs and tangible rewards.

Building and Losing Reputation

  • Earn Favor by completing missions, advancing interests, diplomacy, roleplay, or defending the faction’s goals.

  • Lose Favor (Disservice) via betrayal, sabotage, repeated failure, or taking hostile actions. Often, negative Favor brings new story complications, rival enforcers, or higher costs.

Repairing Reputation: Players may undertake redemption quests or negotiate to restore standing. Clever negotiation and dramatic heroics often open doors, even at rock bottom.

Faction Favor: Spending Reputation

Characters spend Favor with factions for specific boons:

  • Faction Equipment: Access to purchase/crafting of advanced or unique gear.

  • Archetypes/Feats: Gain instruction and approval for special abilities.

  • Hirelings/Experts/Masters: Recruit NPCs by rank.

  • Social Status: Earn titles, voting rights, command authority, or be invited to secret missions.

  • Project Sponsorship: Become the face of major undertakings.

Favor spent reduces current reputation but can be regained through new acts of loyalty. Dropping below certain thresholds may lock access or trigger consequences.
