If Heimat is the crown of the Nation, then Rotfront is most-certainly its jewel. Its most populous, most industrious, and most independent facet; aligned in-totality to AEON's cultural will.

Rotfront is, unlike Leng and Heimat, exclusively a construct of the Nation.

A moon in the shadow of the great Red Eye of the gas giant it orbits. Rotfront is, almost paradoxically, the most important possession of the Nation.

Losing Heimat would cripple the Nation, but not destroy it. Vineta is but a white elephant; an endless pit of resources that needs to be held simply for the idea of holding it. Leng is, while useful and bearing several key industries, certainly not important to the Nation's broader existence.

But Rotfront is everything; it holds over fifty-percent of the Nation's total population thanks to a colossal influx of Vinetan refugees, endless potential expansionism, and birth incentives married to reliable safety nets. It holds the bulk of its more dynamic industries, its most innovative individuals, its most modern financial handling... and also the Nation's very spirit. Losing Rotfront would undoubtedly fracture the Nation's collective psyche.

And it's for that reason the Nation is very, very keen to sacrifice as much as necessary to keep the Empire occupied, because the longer they delay? The harder Rotfront becomes to destroy, and the better it evolves.

Work is easy to find, and if you can't find work then you can very easily be assigned work. Housing is plentiful through massive volumes of over-construction; not that the buildings are low quality, no; they can and will outlive you, but they are made very, very fast. The Nation does not have the time nor luxury of mass-excess. The standard 'Eins' Apartment all unpartnered Gestalts are eligible to receive is a concrete room, a window, and little else.

Most-such housing units, or Arbeitersiedlung, are largely communal; with central areas for recreation, showering, bathing, and cooking. Given the fact they're more-or-less universally available and light on ones' tax burden, it's well-understood that this is the price you pay for having freely available and serviceable housing.

It's only when one starts getting in to higher grades of apartment, or Partnered units, that space becomes more available; private bathrooms, multiple bedrooms, more extensive furnishings, and more- all as you rise in importance and productivity.

Replika units on Rotfront often find themselves living in their workplace; extra-Sektor manufacturing facilities and the like commonly have dedicated dormitories for Replika units, and often smaller sections available for Gestalts on longer contracts, but neither are universal.

Some units, for example, can often find themselves living in Replikasiedlung. Those employed in hospitals, private restaurants, administrative hubs, and more besides, can generally have the expectation of either dormitories or full access to an 'Eins' apartment of their own. Depending on the exact arrangement, such Replikasiedlung can be either positioned in-between various 'key industries' as an easy place to transit Replika units from, or are established in the middle of existing Sektors utilizing empty housing blocks.

The Protektoriate, meanwhile, finds itself in its most potent form; unified, loyal, and well-supported by an extensive and modernized back-end. There is no risk of low supplies, or being outnumbered- so long as procedure is followed, nothing can best the Rotfront Protektoriate at full mobilization.

But there is, yet, an underbelly; the Rotkartells. Organized criminal groups operating within the margins of Rotfront, where poorly documented maintenance routes, forgotten overconstruction, and a dozen other small gaps provide them leverage with which to pressure. They are not having open wars with each other, as that would result in their extinction... but they're slowly eroding what they can, to make room for themselves.

Where there is a need, there will be someone to fill it.

And Rotfront has need of much.
