Wyvern

Wyverns are enormous flying reptiles found primarily around Veyrath’s high mountain ranges, coastal cliffs, plateaus, and open uplands. They possess long, narrow bodies, proportionately long necks and tails, short powerful hind legs, and vast wings that serve as their forelimbs. Rows of spines and flexible frills run along the head, neck, and back, while increasingly elaborate facial horns develop with age. Wyverns are obligate carnivores and highly intelligent predators, capable of recognizing individuals, learning complex routines, and forming strong bonds with familiar handlers.

Eryndor has bred and trained wyverns for thousands of Cycles (each equal to 1.4608 Veyrathian years), and they are closely associated with the Eryndoran nobility. Noble riders use them as scouts, couriers, command platforms, patrol mounts, and aerial strike assets. Their enormous wings make them exceptionally efficient long-distance fliers, but they require considerable space to launch and land and are vulnerable in confined terrain. Even a trained wyvern remains a powerful predator rather than a conventional tame animal, and ownership requires extensive facilities, specialized handlers, and a considerable supply of meat.
