Main Roles

High Druid (Anam-Brighan)

Role: The High Druid, also known as Anam-Brighan, is the supreme spiritual leader of Brighan’s faith. This individual is seen as the living embodiment of Brighan’s will on earth, and they are responsible for interpreting the goddess's desires and ensuring that her teachings are followed throughout Eirendor. The High Druid oversees all major religious ceremonies, including the consecration of sacred groves, seasonal festivals, and rituals of protection or healing. They are also the chief advisor to leaders of Eirendor, ensuring that decisions are made in harmony with the land and its people.

Selection: The High Druid is chosen through a sacred ritual in which all Archdruids participate, often held during a significant celestial event. The candidate is usually a seasoned Archdruid who has demonstrated exceptional wisdom, leadership, and connection to Brighan and the natural world.

Archdruids (Archfáith)

Role: Archdruids serve as regional leaders of Brighan’s faith, each overseeing a large area or several communities. They are responsible for the spiritual well-being of their region, guiding local druids, presiding over important ceremonies, and acting as mediators in disputes related to land, nature, or community welfare. Archdruids also play a key role in advising local rulers or clan leaders, ensuring that the governance aligns with Brighan’s principles.

Responsibilities: Archdruids manage the larger sacred sites, such as ancient groves, stone circles, and temples dedicated to Brighan. They also ensure that the seasonal festivals are conducted properly and that the land is cared for according to ancient traditions.

Druids (Fáith)

Role: Druids are the most common clergy in Brighan’s hierarchy, acting as spiritual leaders, healers, and advisors within their communities. They conduct daily rituals, tend to the sacred sites, and provide guidance to the people in matters of agriculture, health, and spiritual well-being. Druids are often the first point of contact for worshipers seeking Brighan’s blessings or advice.

Specialization: Some druids may specialize in particular aspects of Brighan’s worship, such as healing, agriculture, or protection, depending on their talents and the needs of their community.

Guardians of the Grove (Cúirteoir)

Role: These individuals are warriors and protectors of Brighan’s sacred places. They are responsible for defending the groves, temples, and other holy sites from threats, both physical and spiritual. Guardians are often highly skilled in combat, particularly in natural environments, and they also assist in rituals requiring strength and fortitude.

Responsibilities: Guardians of the Grove often accompany druids on their travels, protecting them and ensuring that the natural balance is maintained wherever they go.

Greenhands (Lámh-glas)

Role: Greenhands are initiates and lower-ranking members of the clergy, often young or newly devoted to Brighan. They assist druids in their duties, learn the sacred rituals, and help maintain the sacred sites. Greenhands are also tasked with tending to the land, planting trees, caring for animals, and performing other acts of service that honor Brighan.

Training: Greenhands undergo rigorous training in both spiritual and practical matters, learning the ways of the land, the rituals of Brighan, and the importance of harmony with nature. Over time, they may ascend to become full-fledged druids or take on other roles within the hierarchy.

Lay Worshipers

Role: The lay worshipers of Brighan are the everyday people of Eirendor who revere the Earth Mother in their daily lives. They participate in communal rituals, make offerings at local shrines, and follow the seasonal customs. While they do not hold official titles within the religious hierarchy, their contributions and adherence to Brighan’s teachings are vital to the faith’s practice and the community’s well-being.
