The Campaign Premise
In the distant past, a dark catastrophe known as the Bloodmist shattered the once-prosperous Ravenland, tearing a hole between worlds and unleashing foul and demonic creatures upon the land. The Forbidden Lands, as the region came to be known, became a twisted realm where dark forces held sway, and ancient secrets lay hidden beneath its treacherous landscapes.
One day, the Bloodmist lifted, and the world was open again for the taking. Several forces raged a bloody battle in the hopes of conquering Ravenland once more. Legends spoke of a war between the demons forces, led by a figure known as Zytera, and a human resistance whose leader, Zertorme, led the war to Harga.
How this battle played out is unknown, but something there triggered a second Bloodmist. Those who fought in this war are rumoured to have perished to the mist. The world was once more thrown into isolation.
Amidst the chaos, a group of survivors managed to carve out a haven for themselves in the heart of the Forbidden Lands. Named Ravencross, this village became a sanctuary for those seeking refuge from the horrors outside. The survivors were a diverse mix of races and backgrounds, bound together by the shared goal of reclaiming the lost lands and uncovering the mysteries of the Forbidden Lands.
As the years passed, the population of Ravenscross grew, and The Crossguards emerged to lead the community. Once again, the Bloodmist has mysteriously disappeared. Faced with the ever-present dangers of the Forbidden Lands, The Crossguard devised a bold plan. They sought brave and resourceful adventurers to explore the uncharted territories, recover lost artefacts, and confront the malevolent forces that still plagued the region.
The Forbidden Lands are a vast expanse of untamed wilderness, filled with ancient ruins, cursed forests, and enigmatic landmarks. Each expedition into the Forbidden Lands holds the promise of untold riches, forgotten lore, and the chance to push back the encroaching darkness. However, the lands are also teeming with monsters, rival factions, and the remnants of once-mighty armies, corrupted by the Bloodmist.
Hooks & Mysteries
The Fallen Cities : Rumours persist of cities believed to be untouched by the Bloodmists corruption. Its discovery could hold the key to restoring balance to the Forbidden Lands.
The Misgrown: Some adventurers return from the Forbidden Lands changed. Marked by some otherworldly curse. What causes these mutations? Are they a gift, or a curse?
The Warring Factions: Various groups vie for control in the Forbidden Lands, each with its own agenda. Unravelling their goals & motivations can lead to alliances or open conflict.
Roaming Demons: Remnant creatures of the Pre-Bloodmist still scour the lands causing chaos and despair. Who will put an end to them?
The Forgotten Gods: Ancient deities, long forgotten in the wake of the Bloodmist, may still have a presence in the Forbidden Marches. Their worship and influence could shape the destiny of the region.
