House Tharashk — Focus Items
"I grew up tracking prey through the swamps. I use mine to find fugitives in the slums of Sharn. I'm still a hunter. I always find my mark."
Mark: Finding | Symbol: The Dragonne | Production: House Cannith and the Twelve (exclusive) Requirement: All items below require the Mark of Finding unless otherwise noted.
The Principle
House Tharashk's focus items are the working instruments of the most capable tracking and resource-acquisition network in Khorvaire. Where Cannith's catalogue is shaped by scale and Sivis's by communication systems, Tharashk's is shaped by range and precision. The house has no creation forges and no interest in acquiring them. What it has is a Y-shaped wand in a half-orc's hand at the edge of a Q'barra jungle, pointing unerringly toward a dragonshard vein three hundred feet below the canopy floor — and that single tool has done more to reshape the economics of Khorvaire than any artifact in Cannith's vault.
Mark-Specific Focus Items
Eyes of the Dragonne Common (requires attunement, Mark of Finding) — duplicates eyes of the eagle
Lenses set in bone or carved-wood frames bearing the Mark of Finding. They grant exceptional visual acuity at range — the kind of keen-eyed clarity that lets a tracker pick out a fugitive's silhouette at six hundred yards or spot a dragonshard's telltale glint in a riverbed from a ridgeline. The Eyes are the first piece of marked kit a new Finders Guild agent receives, usually presented alongside their guild seal on the day they take their oath. A Tharashk tracker who has lost their Eyes is still a tracker. They are just easier to run from.
House role: Standard issue to all active field agents.
Prospector's Wand Uncommon (requires attunement, Mark of Finding)
A Y-shaped wand carved from bronzewood or murk oak, five charges (replenishes 1d4+1 at dawn; on a 1 when the last charge is expended, the wand crumbles to ash). Three properties: Finding (2 charges, locate creature), Location (1 charge, locate object), and Prospecting (1 charge, Mark of Finding extension — specify mineral type and minimum quantity within a 30-foot radius sphere).
That prospecting property is the economic backbone of the house. An independent prospector using locate object knows something is nearby. A marked heir with a Prospector's Wand knows there are at least three pounds of refined-grade Eberron dragonshards within range, and exactly which direction to dig. The difference between those two things is the difference between a lucky strike and an industry.
As the speaking stone is to House Sivis, the prospector's wand is to Tharashk. It is the single item that transformed a house of hunters into the richest natural-resource corporation in Khorvaire. An heir without one is working at a disadvantage the house actively discourages.
House role: Working prospectors and senior bounty hunters.
From "Equipment Protocols for Finders Guild Field Agents," internal memorandum:
"A wand lost to enemy action is replaced at house expense. A wand lost to negligence, gambling debts, or romantic entanglements is replaced at the agent's expense — which, at current procurement rates, is approximately eighteen months of field pay. Guard your tools."
Universal Channeling Items
Dragonmark Channel Common — Brooch bearing the dragonne crest
Casts any 1st-level mark spell once per day. The Channel is the second piece of kit an agent receives after the Eyes, and for apprentice agents it represents the first real extension of their mark's capability. Simple, reliable, and nearly impossible to break — the qualities Tharashk prizes above all others.
House role: Apprentice agents.
Channeling Wand Rare — Slender rod of worked bronzewood
Seven charges, extending range, duration, and casting speed of mark-related magic. The duration extension is what makes the Channeling Wand invaluable to field operatives: it sustains locate creature across hours of tracking, turning what would otherwise be a brief divinatory flash into a sustained hunt. The action economy reduction lets a bounty hunter re-acquire a target and act in the same moment — no pause, no gap, no chance for the quarry to slip away in the heartbeat between sensing and striking.
House role: Veteran bounty captains and senior prospectors.
Greater Siberys Items
Inquisitive Goggles Greater Siberys item — Mark of Finding
The mark's tracking and perception at its highest expression. The Goggles render concealment, planar interference, and counter-divination substantially less effective — they see through Kundarak wards that would defeat a lesser mark, pierce Phiarlan misdirection, and function across planar boundaries that would normally terminate a tracking spell. The Arcane Congress has never replicated their function and, to their considerable irritation, Tharashk has declined every request to study them.
House role: Restricted. Deployed for specific high-priority operations. Triumvirate authorization required.
Prospector's Rod Greater Siberys item — Mark of Finding
The extraction counterpart to the Inquisitive Goggles — the Wand's capabilities scaled to industrial scope. Where the Wand finds a deposit, the Rod maps entire vein systems, surveys at greater depths, and assesses mineral quality across broad terrain. Tharashk's most valuable Q'barra sites were identified using Rod surveys before a single shovel broke ground.
House role: Major mining operations and senior enclave posts.
Acquisition & Distribution
Item | Rarity | Mark Requirement | Typical Recipient |
|---|---|---|---|
Eyes of the Dragonne | Common | Mark of Finding | All active Finders Guild agents |
Prospector's Wand | Uncommon | Mark of Finding | Working prospectors, senior bounty hunters |
Dragonmark Channel | Common | Mark of Finding | Apprentice agents |
Channeling Wand | Rare | Mark of Finding | Veteran bounty captains, senior prospectors |
Inquisitive Goggles | Greater Siberys | Mark of Finding | Deployed per operation (Triumvirate authorization) |
Prospector's Rod | Greater Siberys | Mark of Finding | Master prospectors, major extraction operations |
None of these items are available for open purchase. They are produced exclusively by House Cannith and the Twelve under contract, distributed internally, and retrieved upon retirement, excoriation, or death. A Tharashk focus item on the black market commands extraordinary prices precisely because it should never be there.
A Note on the Catalogue's Shape
Tharashk's catalogue is the most focused of any house. Two items find things (Eyes, Wand). Two items find things better (Goggles, Rod). The channeling tools sustain the finding across time and distance. There are no defensive items, no communication systems, no architectural installations. Everything on this list answers the same question: where is it?
This reflects the house's identity more clearly than any mission statement could. Tharashk does one thing. It does it better than anyone else in the world. And the prospector's wand — that Y-shaped rod in a half-orc's hand, pointing toward dragonshards in a jungle no one else would dare to enter — is the single item that made that truth profitable.
