The Feln are fallen mortals who are commonly found in the darkness of the Depths and below. They are twisted, abyss-touched from birth, and their physical features vary largely depending on their origin. All Feln can trace their origin to a primordial ancestor, who was spawned, and given life in an abyssal pool. Their appearance is representative of the abyss, with all manner of excess features, such as tails, horns, scales and bones jutting out from their bodies, seemingly without guidance or reason.
They sometimes have sharp horns that can curve back around their head, from the front of their skull, or jut out in every direction. Their eyes are often seen with sclera black as pitch, with their irises usually some variant of yellow, orange, or brown, or simply black. Their teeth are darkened black, or bone bared, and can be fanged and sharp. Their fingers are oft elongated, punctuated by short black claws that jut out from their fingertips and form fingernails. Yet underneath it all, there some humanlike features.
Many Feln opt not to leave the world below, but the Depths is a harsh, unforgiving place, and as such, some leave the underworld, and return to Thurn’s surface. They oft have difficulty adjusting to the surface world, partly due to their monstrous appearance, but also due to their association with the Abyss, and the Depths. Some people mistake them for demons, and many divine faiths view them as dark abominations. But, surely, their creation is a miracle of sorts?
